be yourself, unless you can be a unicorn, then always be a unicorn.

mig. in the video you were asked what god is for you. is there something you wish to add?
jh. well i actually practice buddhism and, to me, god is... when i talk of god, i speak of the universe. so to me god is everything and so god is as much the life energy that is in this wood or table, as it is in a leaf in a tree, as it is in a person; it's the universal energy that creates everything and lives within all of us, and everything.

mig. is the word god controversial for you? if yes why?
jh. no, it’s not controversial to me, i think people can make big deals of dumb things, and i think its just a concept that everybody who believes in it can call it whatever they like but if you ask anyone we usually are talking about the same thing, so i think people can just get caught up in words..

mig. do you think of religion when you hear the word god? if yes, why?
jh. yes, but it is because of the way i am conditioned to think of it; i don't think that it necessarily connotes religion but i think that, just going up christian in an american household, you just end up thinking that way.

mig. do you believe everything happens for a reason, or are we the reason why things happen?
jh. i do believe that everything happens for a reason but i also do believe that we can put out into the universe things that we want to happen and we will attract that; the law of attraction i guess.

mig. define love. what does love mean for you?
jh. love is interesting, because in buddhism i haven't yet delved into the buddhist concept of love and my father is a very very hardcore christian and he is always asking what buddhists think of love; i always say to him that i haven't got to that part yet. for me love is the ability to recognise god in other people.

mig. do you think love is something all life forms share?
jh. i don't think, for example, that a dog can recognise love the way that a human being can. but i think i think that it is a human-specific concept; i don't think that everything can acknowledge love.

mig. what in your opinion can make a relationship last a whole lifetime?
jh. i think that more than love, it is about respect, admiration and a willingness to be with someone as they change.

mig. what have you learned about life so far?
jh. i have learned a lot about life lately and i think that the most important thing that i have learned is that we are all spiritual beings, and i think that your spirit decides when it wants to come into this world, what it wants to do in this world, who it wants to know in this world, and when it’s going to leave this world. you have very little control over it, and i think it is very much about our spiritual journey and the destination our spirit is on its way to; not that we can't control it, but i think that a lot of things are predestined.

mig. how would you describe us/humanity today?
jh. i think that we are very superficial and concerned with things that don't matter; not so much concerned about who people really are, and what people really mean, and love, and things that transcend the physical; i think that the world is in a really difficult place right now.
