what is god for you?
mig. in the video you were asked what god is for you. is there something you wish to add?
ig. no, i've said it all in the video.
mig. is the word god controversial for you? if yes why?
ig. the word god for me is linked with a lot of negativity. maybe there is a god, i'm not a person that is going to tell other people to believe or not to believe, but for me it's something totally abstract. when i was really young i was forced to go to church, and i hated it. i loved the building and the rituals, but the things they were saying were very boring to me, it couldn't interest me.
mig. do you think of religion when you hear the word god? if yes, why?
ig. yes i do, i hate it when the term god is used to suppress people.
mig. do you believe everything happens for a reason, or are we the reason why things happen?
ig. i believe there are things happening that you can't do anything about. but in a way i still believe in the will of human beings to change your destiny. only destiny for me is not enough. when i was young i already believed that when you really want to do something in your life that you will arrive, anything can happen.
mig. define love. what does love mean for you?
ig. hah, it's a big word, but a word that i love. for me love is not only about having a partner or having children, but it's also about friends. for me, after all those years, i know what the meaning is now. you know, when i started my career i was so busy with myself that i didn't take the time for it. but then a few bad things happened regarding relationships, also with friends.. then for me private life and friendships became much more important.
mig. do you think love is something all life forms share?
ig. yes i think so.
mig. what in your opinion can make a relationship last a whole lifetime?
ig. you have to give each other a lot of freedom. and with freedom i don't mean that you have to jump in the bed with somebody else all the time, however that's possible. it's about comprehension, giving space, also when you live in the same house/space. everybody needs his own space, that's very important, to be open. also not to be obliged to say everything, you need a little bit of life for yourself, i don't need to know, or want to tell, all the details.
mig. what have you learned about life so far?
ig. that you cannot take anything in life for granted.
mig. how would you describe us/humanity today?
ig. i see things happening that happened before, and i think we still didn't learn enough. when you know history a bit and you see what's happening right now in the world we still didn't learn. it's all just repeating. just like with relationships, people always fall in the same holes.
