what is god for you?
mig. in the video you were asked what god is for you. is there something you wish to add?
lv. well, i think that god is such an abstract thing. god is something that you shouldn’t look for outside of yourself and your inner minds because there is nothing out there; god is something that you have to create for yourself, and you can only be your own god.
mig. is the word god controversial for you? if yes why?
lv. i don’t think the word is controversial for me, i think the modern meaning of it might be. people blindly believe in this concept of god and that’s going beyond the word, that is a mainstream controversial thing, not so much personal.
mig. do you think of religion when you hear the word god? if yes, why?
lv. i do think of religion, just because of, what i said before, the idea of it being a part of ‘the church’. but when i think of the word god, for myself, then i don’t think of religion, no.
mig. do you believe everything happens for a reason, or are we the reason why things happen?
lv. i believe everything happens for a reason. that might sound very naive, but to me i think it helps me get through things in my life. because if you sit and worry about things, wondering why this is happening to me, it seems like up until now everything in my life has kind of lead to something good.
mig. define love. what does love mean for you?
lv. well, you can love your family, your partner, everything around you. hmm, it’s difficult, when i think about the word love i automatically think about ‘being in love’, but that’s not only what it is. love is something that is there for you, it makes you happy, it makes you angry, and it makes you think.
mig. do you think love is something all life forms share?
lv. i do think so, but they don’t experience it all in the same way i think.
mig. what in your opinion can make a relationship last a whole lifetime?
lv. haha, let me come back to you when i’ve lived a whole lifetime! no, it’s funny actually, i just started a relationship with someone who i believe is for me someone i want to be with for the rest of my life; i’m really trying to do the right thing now, which is i think being aware of the other person. actually, also in friend relationships, you have to be aware of the other person and really truly believe that not everybody is the same, that you can’t control someone, or expect their reaction to things to be the same as your reaction, and this is really difficult. acceptance and being aware are important things i think to make it last.
mig. what have you learned about life so far?
lv. well, i know that you have to let go of certain things, because you can’t control everything. i like to think of myself as a control-freak, but that doesn’t work, you can’t control everything. so i think life throws you things and it’s up to you to deal with them; don’t expect everything is going to go the way you want it to.
mig. how would you describe us/humanity today?
lv. hmm, very divided. i think humanity is not a word anymore that exists today. for me when i hear it i think of a union, a whole. but when i see the world and us today i don’t feel a big connection between people anymore. i think people are really into dissecting themselves and creating these small groups of equal-minded people. this can be fashion-wise, religion based, and then there is so much conflict between these groups. we’re spreading out and going farther an farther away from each other; humanity is fading, there is no connection anymore.
